Have a Hoppy Easter at the Castle

With just a hop, skip, and jump you can come along and search the grounds for the Easter Bunnies. We are so egg-cited we just can’t wait for the event which is running from 29th March – 14th April 2024.

Lots to see, including our giant Easter rabbits. Follow the clues around the Castle & Museum to collect those important stamps, at the end of the visit claim your easter prize.

Mountfitchet Castle is a Norman Motte and Bailey Castle and Village,

re-constructed on its original historic ancient site, complete with many different buildings, siege weapons and animals roaming freely throughout the 10-acre site, providing a unique insight into community life in Domesday England.

We have a large outdoor picnic area and indoor dining room, the onsite café sells a range of freshly made sandwiches, delicious toasted sandwiches, toasted provencette paninis, pizzas, hot dogs, lovely hot soup-of-the-day with a roll and butter, Cornish pasties, sausage rolls, jacket potatoes, handmade cakes and muffins, freshly popped popcorn, ice creams as well as a selection of hot and cold drinks – assorted teas, coffees and cold drinks and hot chocolate to die for!

The House on the Hill Museum is the largest collection of Toys in the world, with at least 80,000 toys, books and games on display from late Victorian times up to 1990’s.

We are open 10am – 5pm (last admission at 3.45pm), 7 days a week including all holidays.
